Edward Joseph Lopez Jr.

Edward Joseph Lopez Jr. passed away on Oct. 20, 2007, in Smith River, Calif. He was born on July 27, 1933, in Crescent City, Calif., making him a lifelong resident of Del Norte County. Mr. Lopez was a member of the Tolowa Tribe. He was proud of his family heritage and participated performing traditional Tolowa dances. He served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army in 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Some of the activities that Edward loved were to fish, play pool, play horseshoes and collect agates.
He is survived by his daughters: Dusty Lopez, of Crescent City; Caroleen Lopez, of Crescent City; Shelly Dawn Pulsifer, of Lacy, Wash.; and Natasha Lopez of Smith River; his sons: Edward Joseph Lopez III, of Tacoma, Wash.; and Danny Joseph Lopez, of Loleta; his brother Frank “Super” Lopez, of Montery Park, Calif.; nephew Russell Lopez, of Smith River; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lena Lopez, daughter Denise Lopez and numerous siblings.
Viewing will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Funeral services on Friday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
Interment will follow at the Howonquet Indian Cemetery, Smith River, Calif., with fellowship following a the Howonquet Indian Community Hall in Smith River.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, of Crescent City, Calif.
